Replacing Paper-Based Pathology With a Digital Lab Platform
A medical pathology lab in Mexico was running on paper forms, WhatsApp groups, and Excel. We built a full laboratory information management system with Mexican tax compliance and 10 user roles.

10 user roles, full regulatory compliance
A Lab Running on Paper and WhatsApp
A pathology laboratory in Baja California Sur handled hundreds of patient samples daily. The entire workflow — from sample reception through testing, quality control, and result delivery — was managed with paper forms, WhatsApp messages, and Excel spreadsheets.
Results took days to reach patients. Doctors called the lab to check status. The lab director couldn't track turnaround times or identify bottlenecks. Mexican tax compliance (CFDI invoicing) was handled manually, creating errors and delays.
A Complete Digital Laboratory
We built a full LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) covering the entire workflow: patient registration, sample tracking with barcode integration, test assignment and execution, quality control checkpoints, result approval with digital signatures, and patient delivery via WhatsApp and a web portal.
The system supports 10 distinct user roles — from reception staff to lab technicians, pathologists, administrators, and referring physicians — each with appropriate access controls. Mexican regulatory compliance (NOM-007-SSA3, CFDI 4.0 invoicing) was built in from day one, not bolted on.

From Days to Hours
Patient results now arrive within hours, not days. The lab director has real-time visibility into turnaround times, sample volumes, and bottlenecks. Tax compliance is automated — CFDI invoices generate on approval, not as an afterthought.
The platform handles the lab's full case load with room to grow, running on self-hosted infrastructure with zero-downtime deployments.
